Life is good

There is a lot to report since my last Post.

1. Wedding Planning is going well. We have most of the Details worked out, getting married on September 16th down in Mississippi. Some of the latest news is that my good friend and college room mate Jeff is going to DJ the party after the wedding. Should be a blast. Check out gregandpaigesayido.com for more details.

2. My Brother Dave got Married to Laura on memorial day weekend. The wedding was held in Merrit Park in Dundalk MD. It was awesome, great weather, an amazing turnout (almost everyone in my extended family) and just good times. Dave and Laura both looked great and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Check out the pictures.

3. With the help of several of our Friends, Elena threw us an engagement party. Good times for sure, check out the pictures

4. Kite Surfing has been amazing. I am really starting to learn to ride. More on that at another time. check out the pictures.

5. I am taking a final cut pro class and the break just ended so I am going back to class.

Debt Free!

Saturday was a big day for me as I finally made the big move and paid off my student loan.

The move to San Francisco has provided many great things for me such as a great job, a fiancée and the ability to save some money. In the past year I managed to save enough to pay off both my parents loan (last October) and my loan (this Saturday). Now I just have to start saving for our new apartment.

Life is good in SF. It has rained this weekend, which kept me out of the water. This is probably a good thing since we are working steadily on wedding planning...

Me and My Kite

Saturday was a big day for me. I made the big step into kiteboarding. This year my buddy Luke and I both took some kiteboarding lessons and yesterday morning after much deliberation and research I finally got my kite.

It is a 12 meter cabrinha switchblade.

Yesterday I spend the day on Alameda beach meeting kiters and learning to ride. I am heading back to the beach today after church...praying for Wind.

now all I need is a tan.

Ryan Adams is Weird

On Thursday night Luke and I went to the Palace of Fine arts to see Ryan Adams.

The Palace of Fine Arts is this amazing building that looks like a garden straight out of the Roman Empire. Apparently it was build a while back for the World's Fair.

Ryan Adams is a singer/songwriter who has gained mild fame over the past couple years. He started out in an Alternative country band called Whiskeytown and has been out on his own for a while.

I am a big fan of his music but the show was straight up Weird. He was definitely hopped up on something and maybe a couple somethings and the show was more like a one man play than a rock concert. In fact I would say that he only played through three songs the entire night. He played a lot more music but he was constantly stopping to talk with the sound guys or the Audience or even himself. Most of it was either funny or simply amusing. I will say one thing, when he did sing, he had a golden voice and sounded just as good as he does on the cds.

I felt bad for Luke as he was expecting a concert and got a freak show.

Paige Met the Family...ALL OF THEM

So last Sunday while we were in Baltimore, my parents threw a "meet Paige party". I was very impressed by my mom's computer skillz as she designed and mailed really cool invitations to what must have been 100 members of my family. Since both my parents come from big families (8 brothers and Sisters each), it was easy to rack up a crowd.

Paige was a trooper, going with the flow as my parents home flooded with relatives. It was a great party on a sunny day. My dad manned the grill serving burgers and dogs while everyone brought over their famous specialty dishes. It was really amazing to have so many people show up.

In addition to my family I had a couple crashers that helped relieve the meeting the family pressure. Ryan has been in Russia for work so his girlfriend Andrea came to represent with our good friend Kimmy. My buddy Eric came over which was great since I had not seen him in over a year. My buddy Austin and his wife also stopped by and were able to provide plenty of valuable wedding advice. Last but not least, Kenny and Jess brought over little Kenny Junior (KJ), who is only about two weeks old.

All and all it was a great time and a privilege to have so many people come together to meet Paige.

Brandi & Dan's Wedding

My good buddy Dan got married in Baltimore this weekend. Paige and I took Friday and Monday off work and headed to Dundalk to see the family and for me to participate in the wedding.

I grew up with Dan, we met in 7th or 8th Grade and lived down the street from each other. Brandi, his wife, was a childhood friend of Dan's younger sister and they dated on and off in highschool. They got back together the first thanksgiving that lived in NY and have been together ever since.

The wedding was held in Westminster Hall in Baltimore city, which is also where Edgar Allen Poe is burried.

The rain had little effect on the beauty of the day, Dan and Brandi were wed in the Hall with a huge exposed pipe organ as there backdrop. Our buddy Kenny was the best man and the rest of the dundalk crew were groomsman. Brandi looked amazing in her strapless wedding dress.

After the ceremony, the reception became a full on party filled with Rock and Roll, hip-hop music and plenty of dancing and drinking. My Dundalk crew was in classic form losing any trace of inhibition as they dominated the dance floor. We did chicken dances and apron dances, my dad was the only man brave enough to do the line dances, Dan was the Indian and I was the cowboy for the YMCA and Kenny managed to get is shirt of and show everyone what he is made of. More than words would be needed to give a full understanding of the event so I hope to have some pictures posted soon.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

I do recognize that I have not really been doing a great job keeping up with the blog, but life has been really busy.

A couple key things going on.

Ken and his wife Jessica had lil' Kenny, born on April 5th. From the sounds of things, everyone is in good health and spirits. I know Kenny will be a great dad.

Around that same time I went to the CTIA wireless conference in Las Vegas. I am working on a project for PayPal and they were launching PayPal Mobile that Thursday. We spend time with the clients and I had the day to check out the latest and greatest in Mobile technology. There is a lot of cool stuff happening in mobile phone technology, and we are really going to benefit from it in the near future.

One of the highlights on my trip was bumping into Webster. Emmanual Lewis was gaming at the Treasure Island Casino and I took a picture of him with some random girl. That was pretty cool.

I thought I was going to bump into my buddy Eric Pisick who was in Vegas for a Bachelor Party. It did not pan out because he could not get his phone to work...sounded like too much party for me. A couple good things came from that, for one I was able to poach the pool at his hotel and two, since I was in town, I went to the MobiTV event that was being held at Tangerine. The party had an outside deck that was right in front of the big pirate show they do a million times a day at treasure Island. It was cool to have a front row seat.

That weekend I was back in SF and finally had a clear and windy day. Luke, Kevin and I all got together and went to Ocean Beach for a day of kite flying. We busted out my mbs mountain board and were able to get rolling on the beach using Luke's 3.5 meter kite. I realize this may be hard to conceptualize so click here for a picture. This is not us but it give you an idea. We were rolling down the beach on this off road skateboard powered by a kite.

Besides riding the boards, we made a new friend who had a buggy. The buggy was out of control! You are basically sitting on a grown-up version of a big wheel being pulled down the beach with a 15 foot kite. The buggy was much harder then you would think, but a good time. I managed to flip the buggy and loose the kite giving everyone around me a good laugh.

This past weekend I had my first kite surfing lesson. Luke and I went to kite wind surf in Alameda for our land lesson. You have to first have a lesson on the land to learn how to rig the kite, survey the seen for safety and understand how the kites work. Since you are harnessed in and the kites are 4x bigger then the ones we are used to, they are a lot different and need to understood. It was a good time and it got me even more excited about the sport. I have my water lesson on the 29th.

On Sunday we had an action backed Easter. We went to the early service and then to brunch with some of Paige's friends. In the evening we went over to our friend Elena's house for a Easter dinner complete with a honey baked ham and Paige's famous rice, cheese and broccoli casserole. We had a full house with 12 people. We spend the evening getting to know everyone and competing in a very serious game of charades.

We are getting ready for our trip to Baltimore. Dan and Brandi are getting married this Saturday so we both took Friday off and are flying in for the weekend. The wedding will be all day Saturday and is guaranteed to be a blast. On Sunday, my parents are having a meet Paige party for my entire family at their place. Paige should have a good time trying to remember the names of the hundred family members that will probably come by for some food and a quick introduction. I am really excited.

Still working with Swirl and things are going well. More to post when we get back from Baltimore.
